Mr Jonathan Ramsay
Consultant Urologist and Andrologist
Jonathan Ramsay has been associated with The Lister Fertility Unit since its opening and his clinical practice has for the past 20 years concentrated on the treatment of men before treatment, during IVF and to support and try to improve their situation even after failed cycles.
At least 7% of all men suffer infertility, often a devastating realisation, and one which deserves investigation, sympathy, and sometimes treatment in its own right. Jonathan has specialised in treating men as individuals, and in helping them at least to understand their situation, alongside their partners.
Jonathan has developed techniques new to UK practice to predict the outcome of Micro surgical sperm retrieval, and will always attempt to maximise Sperm production either to avoid surgical sperm retrieval, or to minimise the potential risk of the intervention.
Jonathan trained in Urology at St Bartholomews Hospital in London, where his mentor W F Hendry, a pioneer in the field, inspired an abiding interest in male fertility.
Jonathan became a consultant at Charing Cross and at the West Middlesex in 1988, and has since had clinical commitments at Chelsea Westminster and at the Hammersmith. Surrounded by the fertility units of West London, he has been fortunate to have had an enormous experience in all presentations of male fertility.
Currently Jonathan is The Clinical Director of The Andrology Unit at Hammersmith which is a male factor diagnostic unit specialising in Sperm Cryopreservation. Research efforts are focussed on the role of infection inflammation and genetics on poor sperm quality.
To make an appointment with Jonathan in parallel to seeing your fertility consultant please call 020 3311 7669.
